Agent Mirabelle and the Bubble Escape

Mirabelle had blown a bubble so beautiful that she decided it required protection.

It floated above the backyard, shining pink, blue, and gold.

“A case,” she announced.

Agent Mirabelle picked up an empty plastic container. Her mission was simple: capture the bubble and save it for later.

The bubble drifted higher. Mirabelle stretched onto her toes. Apparently, it had spotted the agent.

At last, it floated within reach. She lifted the container beneath it.

The bubble popped.

Mirabelle examined the empty box.

“Suspect escaped,” she reported.

For a moment, she frowned. Then she remembered how the bubble had wobbled above her nose. She copied its wobble across the grass and began to giggle.

The bubble was gone, yet the lovely feeling had returned.

We sometimes attempt a similar mission. We want a wonderful moment to stay because it seems to hold our happiness.

But Mirabelle’s delight had not been stored inside the bubble. Remembering its wobble brought a fresh thought to life, and through Consciousness, she felt the fun again.

Seeing where experience comes alive takes some pressure off a lovely moment. We can enjoy it without needing to preserve it perfectly. Its ending does not mean our capacity for happiness has disappeared.

Mirabelle set down the container and blew six tiny bubbles.

She watched them scatter across the yard.

“More suspects,” she whispered.

This investigation was clearly larger than she had expected.

Have you ever wanted to save a wonderful moment, only to find fresh enjoyment after it had passed?
